About Our Director
If you had told Abi B. years ago that she would someday lead a ministry reaching hundreds of women across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), she probably wouldn’t have believed you. It wasn’t a grand, calculated plan. But looking back, it’s clear that every season of her life was quietly preparing her for exactly this.
Abi’s journey began in the UK, where she pursued undergraduate training in education alongside a season of children’s ministry. Her love for teaching eventually brought her to the US, where she served in children’s ministry at a local church. It was there that she married and started a family.
Then came a decade of cross-cultural ministry overseas that changed everything. Abi and her husband served among vulnerable communities in unfamiliar cultural and spiritual landscapes. She didn’t realize it at the time, but that season was the best preparation for the work she does today.
After returning to the US, Abi’s passion for teaching Scripture only grew. She began training with an organization dedicated to equipping women to teach the Bible faithfully. What started as a role leading a small group turned into serving as a women’s workshop instructor in expository teaching methodology, a role she has now held for over a decade, training women to teach the Bible faithfully in their churches.
It was through that training work that an unexpected door opened. Through a personal connection, Abi was introduced to a growing effort gathering women from across the MENA region for biblical training, and she was asked to help lead it. There was a clear need, and Abi’s background; cultural fluency from years overseas, training expertise, and a US base to help the work grow was exactly suited to it. What began with just a few women has grown steadily over the years into a ministry now expanding its offerings in Arabic-language biblical training.
Alongside this growing work, Abi also led women’s and children’s ministry locally in her church for a season. As the calling toward this training work became clear, she stepped back from her local role to give herself fully to teaching and training women, taking a leap of faith that ultimately led to launching Gospel Rooted Women as a US nonprofit in 2026. Today, she leads the ministry as Executive Director, continues to instruct in expository Bible teaching methodology, and serves women across the MENA region, driven by a simple, deep conviction: women who are faithfully equipped to teach God’s Word have lasting impact in their churches and communities.
